I have a small garden on the rooftop. I mainly grow plants by recycling foam boxes.

It's quite hot up there and gets little sunlight because my house faces north-south and also has a corrugated metal roof, so I can mainly grow shade-loving plants. When I eat passion fruit I throw the seeds into the garden. I just tossed them there without thinking much. Yet over time, among the many seeds, one seed quietly became a tree before I even noticed.

For two years, with my silly and limited knowledge of agriculture, I didn't know what else to do besides trying to water it regularly, occasionally adding some organic fertilizer, and whispering to it: "Don't die!".

The tree stayed like that in my little garden. It put out many waves of flowers, but I had never seen it bear fruit. The flowers would fall before they fully opened—sometimes because of rain, sometimes because of storms. Sometimes I didn't understand why: the tree stood bare and wouldn't even produce new leaves or branches. Sometimes, because I forgot or wasn't home to water it, the tree would let branches dry to conserve water until I noticed and watered it again. Going round in circles like that until the foliage became lush, it became part of the little garden I saw every day. I had no expectations beyond hoping it (and the other plants in the garden) would stay alive and grow leaves. For me, that was already very good.

And then this afternoon, while I was going up to water, I unexpectedly saw this flower. I stared at it for a long time and suddenly realized the flower had been pollinated and might bear fruit. I felt very surprised and excited. I remembered that a few days earlier I had seen some bees and butterflies appear in my little garden. I just thought to myself: "Wow, bees and butterflies that fly all the way up to the rooftop must have tired wings, right?" and had no further expectations.

It wasn't just one—I saw two flowers. My heart was full of joy. I felt that over time I had not put full expectations on the tree. I went online and Googled and realized that caring for it and doing artificial pollination is actually very easy. I had simply not expected it. This served as a reminder to my very soul.

I want to dedicate this first blooming flower to ĐCT and thank Him for making the flower bloom. The flower has bloomed in my heart, mind, and soul.
